Boy bites Dog

George has become much more mobile. He's able to climb the stairs in our house, although he doesn't know how to get down them. He only walks where there are things to hold on to - chairs, tables, sofas etc. He's had his first trip to the shoeshop - size 3G, which reminded me of getting my shoes in Clarks 30 years ago - not much has changed - they still have the little green measuring devices with the sliding metal bit and the tape :)

Today we took George with us to a pub by the river - where he made friends with a chocolate labrador, who patiently played with him. Unfortunately George playfully bit Henrietta on one of her hind legs, which suprisingly she tolerated. George loves all the animals he's encountered so far, but we have to keep a close eye on him around cats and dogs until he understands that they can hurt him. Unlike some of his peers who are in nursery, George doesn't get that much time playing with other kids so he has yet to learn how to play with them.

George enjoyed his Christmas experiences, crawling around an unfamiliar house, meeting the relatives, eating wrapping paper. We stayed in a hotel on Christmas day, as there wasn't enough space in the house, and there was only a shower there, so George has his first shower. He always seems to laugh at anything unfamiliar - I wonder how long this will continue for. Jana is not letting me have his hair cut until he is one and by then its going to be quite crazy.

George is eating a lot of new foods - Its a great feeling when we cook something new that George takes to. He's moved on from only liking fruit and carrot based foods.

The other thing thats changed is the way George reacts to new people, it used to be he would generally smile at anyone, now he smiles at females whether or not he knows them, but with males he does not know, he watches them for a while, and watches Jana's or my reaction to them, before then sometimes smiling.
He's not talking yet - we get the odd mama and dada, baba (granny) and deda (grandad) mixed in with all his burbling. The funniest noises he makes are in the car, when sometimes he seems to be singing, and when he is fighting the onset of sleep, when he roars like a territorial sealion.
We are looking forward to the imminent arrival of George's first cousin.

George in Prague and Brod

George is visiting the Czech Republic again and would like to say hello to daddy :0 ).
He scrambled up the sofa and managed to stand about three weeks ago. He also started to crawl and is now a rather experienced superfast "zlobster" (naughty little thing) - just leave the the dishwasher or bin open for a few seconds... He is enjoying playing the piano and being generally naughty. Just my luck his good sleeping habits have left us recently...

October

Might play rugby for the Czech team one day.

Always trying to run away.
Out with the family nr Loughborough
Loves to grab faces

More Henry 8th than Harry Potter
Scared yet?

Posing for the camera again
At home
Best seat in the house

I'll spill it on you, the sofa, the carpet, my clothes, everywhere but the bib. Must keep that clean.
Take me to the supermarket where I can wreak havoc.
George has passed the 6 month stage now. He is growing fast, sitting up on his own to play, and sleeping a bit less. No teeth yet, but he has a strong bite and a loud bark too. He's very playful, especially at 5am when he generally wakes up (us and the neighbours). Using the baby bath is a distant memory, now he uses the regular bath and loves to see how much water he can splash onto whoever washes him and the floor with his hands and feet. He is the proud owner of a new highchair. Jana introduces him to a lot of new foods, mainly fruit and vegetables with a tiny bit of chicken. He has grown out of the car-seat we had from birth, now he has one which should last a couple of years, although his shoulders are fairly broad in it already. He is pretty mobile, rolling over and trying to crawl with mainly just his legs, which usually results in him wedged at one end of the cot, bottom in the air, head screwed up against one side and feet pushing against the other. He likes his bedtime story every evening, although it may just be that when the book is held in front of him he sees the opportunity to eat something colourful.

Cleaup starts here

George is starting on some "solids". Something tells me the next year is going to involve a lot of cleaning! Thanks Tomas for the photo.

George and Jana are flying home tomorrow, so hopefully they will both behave on the flight.

Czech adventures

George is over in Czech Republic for 6 weeks with Jana. I spent a week and a half there. Here are a few photos. He still loves having a bath, and being carried around in the sling. I wonder whether he will feel at home there when he is older.

Jaws

George and Jana are away at the moment - spending time with the Czech side of the family. Here are a few photos taken just before they left.
Sometimes George affectionately bites our noses, hopefully he'll grow out of this before the teeth arrive. He is outgrowing many of his things, becoming more mobile. He can roll over and turn around. Soon we'll have to toddler-proof the place.
